Luisa Ungar

Luisa Ungar, is an artist and educator from Colombia, who likes to follow clues from local environments to create site specific work. Her practice looks at how history is constructed working with local knowledges that have been historically repressed. She often uses collaborative strategies, looking for ways to uncover colonial structures inherent in the way we learn and communicate. With her methodology ‚Rehearsed Spontaneity‘ she looks to dislocate such narratives by using performative tools. Her work has been shown and performed in venues such as Liverpool Biennial; Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt, Berlin; Mercosul Biennial Porto Alegre; Spring Workshop, Hong Kong; M KHA Museum Antwerp, Bienal Sur, Argentina; MAMM Medellin; Maebashi Arts Center Japan; among others. In 2019, she curated the ‘performance and pedagogy program’ for the 45th SNA of Colombia. In 2023 – 2025. She was in charge of ‘Kolaborative Praxis’ Plenum at the HBK Braunschweig.
